UNIVERSITY OF ESSEX - COLCHESTER CAMPUS - Your Premium Stay in Colchester, Essex

The University of Essex - Colchester Campus sits within 80 acres of parkland with two lakes, a 2-minute walk from the university buildings. Colchester Castle is 8 km away and Colchester Zoo is 11 km from the hostel, while London Stansted Airport is 58 km distant. The campus itself includes a garden, picnic area, and scenic outdoor dining spots overlooking the lakes.

Each single room includes a private bathroom with a shower, carpeted floors, and essential amenities such as towels and soap. The rooms are located in secure buildings with 24-hour security and fob entry, requiring three locked doors for access. Guests should bring their own crockery and cutlery, as the shared kitchen provides only a kettle, microwave, fridge, and cooker.

The family-friendly restaurant serves British cuisine, offering continental and full English/Irish breakfast options in the morning. A snack bar and vending machines provide quick bites throughout the day, and a minimarket on campus stocks food essentials. Special diet menus are available on request, and packed lunches can be arranged at the 24-hour front desk.

Guests have free access to a fitness centre with gym equipment, plus a billiards table and a tennis court on the grounds. The campus also offers a disc golf course and bicycle parking, with free on-site private parking for cars. The 24-hour front desk can provide laundry service and luggage storage, and an ATM/cash machine is located on site.
